Signs Of Spring

A few posts back I showed you Central Park in the Glebe. This slope is on the east side of Bank Street. The  small blue-purple flowers are always an early spring arrival, coating this shaded area.

At the south end of the Glebe, this pond is linked to the Rideau Canal. When I took this shot a few days back, the water levels were being raised to summer levels. Compare it to this view of the pond in winter. That object there in the midst of the pond is the inukshuk in the winter post, still standing.

I took this shot on the weekend, where the Canal widens out into Dow's Lake. For now, it makes for a good header image.

Another weekend shot, down in the Byward Market. The owner said this Ford is a 1914 model. I didn't ask the type, but it's a beauty. It's the oldest car I've ever seen, and it's something you would never take out of storage until you have warm weather.

Up on Plaza Bridge this weekend, I took a shot of the Canal, with the Conference Centre on the left and the National Arts Centre on the right. Water levels are back up to normal, and the tour boats are back for the season.

Coming alongside the east side of the bridge, I looked down the staircase here leading down to the Canal side. The couple down below were having photographs taken by a photographer out of sight below; the intimacy suggested they might have been having engagement photos done. I liked the moment, so I snapped some shots.
